Prof. Jae Bum Kim obtained his BSc (1988) From the Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea and his PhD (1996) degrees from Harvard University, Boston, USA. He received Postdoctoral training at Dana-Farber Cancer Inst., Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA then at Center for Cancer Research, MIT, Cambridge MA, USA.

He joined the School of Biological Sciences, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea first as Assistant Professor, then since 2009 he became Professor. From 2004 to 2009 we was principal investigator of National Research Laboratory, Seoul, Korea, and visiting Professor at Dept. of Medicine, Univ. of California, San Diego (2007-2008). He is an Associate Member of Korean Academy of Science and Technology, and Director Institute of Laboratory Animal Research, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea.

His main research activities are the study of the mechanism of adipocyte differentiation, the study of gene expression regulation of Lipogenesis and Insulin-dependent Genes, and the study of the molecular mechanisms for Obesity and Diabetes.
He is on the editorial board member of The Molecules and Cells (Springer), Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Springer) journals.

He is a reviewer for many Journals including Molecular and Cellular Biology, Diabetes, Journal of Biological Sciences, Molecular Endocrinology, Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Biochemistry, American Journal of Physiology, Diabetologia, Endocrinology, Journal of Lipid Research, Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, Molecules and Cells, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Reports etc. He is also a reviewer for the following grant agencies including Research Grants Administrated by Korea Research Foundation, Korea Science and Engineering Foundation, Korea Institute of Science and Technology and Ministry of Health and Welfare etc.

Prof. Jae Bum Kim has over 90 publications in peer-reviewed Journals. In 2009, he joined the Obesity Research Center, KSU as a part time research professor and advisor.
